In pictures: Rally Turkey's stages

Rally Turkey (13-16 September) is the only new entry to the championship this year, and as the WRC has never previously visited this part of Turkey, it's a big step into the unknown for teams and crews.

So what should they expect? We've collected some pictures from last year's candidate event to give a sense of the varied challenge coming up.

Here are headlines:

Stages are a mix of smooth open roads near Marmaris, combined with demanding, tight and twisty rocky mountain tracks near Mugla and sections along the coast, offering stunning picture postcards backdrops to the sea. A street stage through Marmaris adds another dimension to the mix.

Look familiar? Some stages have been compared to New Zealand's coastal roads. But the more technical, corner-to-corner stages in the pine forests remind us of Rally Cyprus. There's plenty of loose, dusty gravel around too.
