ADAC Rallye Deutschland

The championship headed to German asphalt for round ten. On the menu, a fiendish mix of narrow vineyard roads, open country blasts and the WRC's version of a military bootcamp.

As usual, our team of WRC photographers were on hand to record the action. Here is a selection of our favourites from Jaanus Ree and Andre Lavadinho.

1. [Above] Tanak in the grapes
Competing among the vines of the Mosel valley is one of the unique features of the championship's German counter. It's one of the rare occasions when the worlds of viticulture and international motorsport come together. Apart from the champagne podium ceremony, obviously.

2. More grapes
You can't grow grapes without rain. And this year's crops benefitted from plenty during last week's rally. Here is Kris Meeke sliding his Citroën C3 around one of the numerous soaking-wet hairpins.

3. Meeke's heartbreak
Thursday's short Super Special in Saarbrücken was nothing short of disastrous for Meeke.

4. Top Gun
Abandoned military jets in Panzerplatte bring to mind plenty of Top Gun moments. Here, Sébastien Ogier feels the need. The need for speed. Yay!

5. Deep forest
Warmth and sunshine dried out much of the route after the early rain. But many of the shaded forest sections remained damp and slippery all rally long.

6. Grass cutting
Corner cutting enables drivers to take a tighter line about the bends, but stones and hazards hidden in the undergrowth mean it's not without risk. Here, Juho Hänninen tries his luck.
