Evans eyes more
speed in Argentina

Elfyn Evans aims to raise his pace at Rally Argentina (23 - 26 April) as he returns to the South American event for a second time with M-Sport World Rally Team.

The Welshman drove his Ford Fiesta RS to seventh last year after a cautious debut on the gravel event. Racking up experience of the stages was his priority, but Evans voiced his frustrations at not being able to drive to his potential.

“This will be a completely different rally to last year where the focus was purely on getting to the end of the event. While we still want to aim for a solid result, I hope that we can show a significant improvement from this time 12 months ago,” he said.

Although a big chunk of the route is new, Evans is unconcerned at the prospect of having to learn more roads.

“In some ways that’s a good thing for us because those who would have had six or seven years of experience with the previous stages could have had a big advantage. Now it’s more of a level playing field.

"The new stages don’t really faze me – I got pretty used to making new pace notes last year,” he added.
