Finn Marko Salminen steps up to the World Championship's top class in 2019 after considerable success in national championship events and two seasons in WRC 2.

He started his co-driving career in 2008 and honed his skills on home ground in the following three years alongside a number of drivers.

In 2011, he began a successful partnership with fellow Finn Juha Salo and the pair dominated the Finnish championship, sealing the title with four wins from six rounds.

The pair won the title a further three times in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and Salminen celebrated a second championship victory in Britain alongside Jukka Korhonen in 2013.

He joined Toyota Gazoo Racing's driver development scheme alongside Japan’s Takamoto Katsuta in 2017. The pair campaigned a Ford Fiesta R5 in WRC 2 for the next two seasons and claimed a category win at Rally Sweden in 2018.

In 2019 Salminen begins a new partnership with M-Sport Ford’s Teemu Suninen, a man tipped for future championship success by Finnish rally talent spotter Timo Jouhki.
