2 days to Australia:
Kremer returns to WRC 2
Armin Kremer is targeting a maiden WRC 2 victory on his first championship start of the year at Kennards Hire Rally Australia this weekend (15-18 November).
The German, a former European and Asia-Pacific champion, is tackling the New South Wales stages in a Motorsport Italia-prepared Skoda Fabia R5.
His participation at the final round of the year comes 15 months since his last WRC appearance at ADAC Rallye Deutschland. But despite the lengthy break, the 49-year-old rally veteran is determined to make a fighting comeback.
“I do not travel halfway around the world just to drive. On the contrary, I’m going full throttle and want to win the WRC 2 class,” he explained.
“No sooner had I completed the first metres on gravel during our pre-event test than I had that big grin on my face again. I cannot wait.”
With the drivers’ title won by Skoda Motorsport’s Jan Kopecký at the previous round in Spain, Kremer will head a four-way fight for the honour of final victory of the season.
Chilean brothers Alberto and Pedro Heller will both pilot Ford Fiesta R5 cars. It will be Pedro’s (pictured below) fifth appearance of the year in the WRC support category, while Alberto returns for a second time after making his WRC debut at YPF Rally Argentina in April.
Completing the field is Italy’s Gianluca Linari. The 2015 Production WRC champion is returning to Australia for the first time in three years in a Subaru Impreza.
