Running first on the road and having left after Thursday’s Umeå opener, the home favourite was caught out midway through the test when the rear of his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 stepped wide in a fast left-hander. The car dug into the snowbank and emerged with a front-left puncture, forcing Solberg to limp through the remaining five kilometres.
“I went off the road, there was so much snow everywhere,” he said at the finish. “I had a big snap from the rear and went off. Lucky I got out. I got a puncture in the ditch, not good.”
