WRC+ Focus: Season Review 2004

Conventional thinking tells us that, typically, athletes are in their prime in their twenties. But in this week’s WRC+ Focus, Sébastien Loeb goes against the mould.

Having spent his formative years as an elite level gymnast, Loeb was, relatively speaking, quiet in his twenties (not to take anything away from his junior world championship success). It was when the Frenchman hit his thirties that his real impact on the world of motorsport was felt, claiming his maiden world title aged 30. It would be a further nine years before he would relinquish it again.

This week’s WRC+ Focus, as voted by you the fans, takes us back to 2004, when 30-year-old Loeb left his opponents – literally and figuratively – in his dust, on his way to that maiden world title and the beginning of his legacy.
