Round of 16 - Biasion v Auriol

Voting in the round of 16 of the WRC Greatest Driver, presented by Pirelli, continues with Miki Biasion taking on Didier Auriol.

It is a second Frenchman in as many days, as qualifier to the main draw, Didier Auriol takes on Italy's only representative, Miki Biasion.

Voting is open for 24 hours, closing at 10:00 CET on Thursday 16 April. The Round of 16 results will be revealed on Saturday 18 April, at the completion of the round.

Miki Biasion
Nationality: Italian
Manufacturers: Lancia, Ford
WRC starts: 78
WRC titles: 2
WRC wins: 17
WRC podiums: 40

Miki Biasion is the only Italian driver to win the WRC. He scored 17 WRC victories, the majority with Lancia, for whom he netted back-to-back titles in 1988 and 1989. At his peak, Biasion won almost 75 per cent of the rallies he started and became only the second driver to successfully defend his title - after Juha Kankkunen.

Didier Auriol
Nationality: French
Manufacturers: Austin Rover, Ford, Lancia, Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, SEAT, Peugeot, Škoda,
WRC starts: 153
WRC titles: 1
WRC wins: 20
WRC podiums: 53

Success came late in life to Didier Auriol, who became the first Frenchman to win the WRC in 1994 at the age of 36. He drove for a wide range of manufacturers, but his greatest moments came with Lancia and Toyota – he scored 18 of his 20 WRC victories with the teams. He was a master of Corsica’s twisting, turning mountain roads and won the island event six times.
