The Irishman and co-driver Paul Nagle will crew the Korean manufacturer’s third i20 World Rally Car at the asphalt Rally Estonia (4 - 6 September), which marks the WRC’s return following the Covid-19 lockdown.
Hyundai’s rotation policy means Breen, nine-time world champion Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo share its third car alongside regulars Tänak and Neuville.
Breen has been given the nod for Estonia after finishing seventh at February’s Rally Sweden in his sole outing this year. Loeb steered the car to sixth in the season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo while Sordo retired from the final pre-lockdown fixture in Mexico with engine problems.
Breen made his Hyundai WRC debut in Finland last season. He led the squad’s trio of cars for much of the event before dropping back to seventh to allow team leader Neuville passed.
He then finished eighth in Britain in his only other appearance last year.
He will warm-up for Estonia with appearances in an i20 R5 on asphalt at Rally di Roma Capitale (24 - 26 July) and Rally di Alba (2 August), alongside the gravel Rally Liepäja (14 - 16 August).
