WRC remembers Paris victims

The FIA World Rally Championship paid its respects to the victims of Friday night's atrocities in Paris with a minute's silence at the finish podium of Wales Rally GB on Sunday.

Drivers, officials, team personnel and fans gathered at the Deeside podium to remember the 132 people who died and hundreds more who were injured in a series of terrorist attacks across the French capital.

The colours of the teams' uniforms were lined up to represent the French tricolour, while drivers held a flag in front of them to send a powerful message from the sport.

The podium ceremony then continued but the top three crews quietly accepted the winners' champagne rather than spraying it for TV and media photographs.

At the finish of the final live TV Power Stage earlier, French winner Sébastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia climbed out of their Volkswagen Polo R and draped the tricolour across the windscreen in another tribute.
