WRC pictures of the year: part 2

Estonia’s Jaanus Ree was one of our team of photographers who covered all 13 rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship to bring you the season’s best images on wrc.com.

We asked him to choose his favourites from the year and today we publish a second group of superb photographs to follow yesterday’s initial selection.

If you want to see more of Ree’s work then visit his website here or his Facebook page here.

Next week we’ll publish a further two-part selection from @World’s Andre Lavadinho for you to enjoy.

Our headline photograph (above) shows Robert Kubica deep in the vineyards at ADAC Rallye Deutschland. The Pole was photographed in Saturday morning’s opening Grafschaft test in his Ford Fiesta RS. He finished 35th after starting with a five minute penalty following a post-shakedown engine change.

The remaining images are all from Coates Hire Rally Australia. The shot above catches a determined Elfyn Evans emerging from a dust cloud in the 4.98km Hydes Creek shakedown. The Welshman was ninth in the warm-up before a disappointing run to ninth in the rally.

A dramatic blend of sunshine and dust in the marathon 50.80km Nambucca 2 provided a spectacular late afternoon view during Saturday’s second leg (below). Heading through one of the longest tests of the season are Steven and Brent Mackenzie.

And Ree’s final choice was also from the Hydes Creek shakedown, showing a super-enthusiastic fan who prepared properly for the WRC’s visit Down Under. Great haircut, sir!
