WRC 5 gamers take on virtual Argentina

As the WRC drivers get themselves ready for this week's YPF Rally Argentina, WRC 5 gamers from around the globe are gearing up for their own challenge in the shape of the fourth round of the eSports WRC Championship.

eSports WRC brings the best WRC 5 drivers together for a tournament that runs from January to October, in parallel with the 2016 WRC season.

After 10 qualification rounds and two semi-finals, the grand final will take place at November's Wales Rally GB where 18 finalists will fight for the title and a prize Hyundai i20 worth €20,000.

Argentina is the fourth of five qualifying rounds in the first half of the season, and so far 27 gamers, nine each from the game's Playstation®4, Xbox One and PC platforms, have qualified for the first semi-final, which will be held during Rally Italia Sardegna (9 - 12 June).

This week another nine gamers will qualify based on their performance on a virtual version of the Capilla del Monte stage. The 5.8km test features a sandy road surface with narrow and rocky sections to test car control and accuracy.

The eSports Argentina final will be broadcast live on Twitch on Sunday [24 April] from 1600hrs (GMT+1).
