Concerns over funding began to surface last week after Volkswagen announced it was setting aside 6.5 billion EUR to cover service work and 'other efforts' to win back the trust of customers after millions of its road cars were found to have used software to manipulate emissions tests.
But today at the Tour de Corse - Rallye de France, the Volkswagen Motorsport team principal [above] insisted it was business as usual for the WRC squad, which has a future guaranteed for least the next four years.
"The Volkswagen WRC team could not have been more successful, winning three back-to-back World Championships. We have a green light for the project up to and including 2019, and are working hard to ensure we remain as successful as possible on the sporting front," he said.
