Monte driver report: part 2
Our assessment of how the drivers fared in Rallye Monte-Carlo
Here is a selection of some of our favourite photographs from this iconic event, courtesy of wrc.com snappers Jaanus Ree and @World’s Andre Lavadinho.
1: WRC on track
Before the rally proper started, a selection of the star drivers took to the streets of Monaco to give high-speed celebrity rides at the season launch. Those tyre marks will probably still be there in 20 years.
2: Night watch
Thursday's opening two stages were run in darkness and brought spectators out in their thousands. Clear skies and perfect weather made for a magical setting.
3: All new i20
Dani Sordo had an uncomfortable ride in Hyundai's new challenger for the opening two days, but by Saturday afternoon the partnership had clicked.
4: Variety
The Monte is famed for its variable road conditions, and this year was no exception. Here's Stéphane Lefebvre threading his DS 3 WRC around one of the hairpins on the rally-closing Power Stage. Nice and clean there - but a few stages earlier he had been tackling the snowfest in the main picture.
5: Iconic hairpins
A bit of illumination and a long exposure shows the dizzying nature of the Power Stage hairpins!
