Support for Croatia WRC bid

Croatia’s government expressed strong support for hosting a WRC round during a visit to Zagreb by leading championship officials.

Prime minister Andrej Plenković, Parliament president Bozo Petrov and four-time Olympic ski gold medallist, Janica Kostelić, now Croatia’s secretary for sport, gave their backing to the country’s application to join the championship.

Poreč has been outlined as a base for a mixed surface event in the Istria region by the Croatian Car and Karting Federation, which welcomed a delegation from WRC Promoter and the FIA on a fact-finding visit.

Among the party were WRC Promoter managing director Oliver Ciesla, FIA rally director Jarmo Mahonen and WRC Commission president Carlos Barbosa.
