WRC stars Dani Sordo and Andreas Mikkelsen will be star attractions at next month’s Monza Rally Show (6 - 8 December) in Italy.
The Hyundai Motorsport duo will compete in i20 R5 cars at the event which is based at the legendary motor racing circuit near Milan.
Sordo, who won Italy’s WRC counter in Sardinia in June, won both the Monza Rally and the accompanying Masters Show in 2010 and 2013.
“It’s my fifth start at the Monza Rally Show but this year it will be special because I will drive a Hyundai i20 R5 and I have never been to Monza with an R5 before,” said the Spaniard.
“For me it will be a holiday weekend with the team. We will try to win, of course, but Monza has always been a very playful event at the end of the year.”
It will be Mikkelsen’s second appearance at Monza and the first time he has competed in an i20 R5. In 2017 he shared a World Rally Car with Thierry Neuville and won the Masters Show.
“This year, with a normal navigator, I’ll be able to concentrate on myself and show what the car is capable of. I’m sure it will be a competitive rally, especially running against Dani. I think we’ll both have fun, and normally when you have fun driving a car, the pace is always good,” he said.
The rally features eight special stages across three days before the Masters Show brings the weekend to a close on Sunday afternoon.
