Second place push for Hyundai in Corsica

As the WRC season enters its final three events, Hyundai Motorsport will head to the upcoming Tour de Corse Rallye de France (1 - 4 October) seeking to strengthen its hold on second place in the FIA manufacturers’ championship.

After 10 rounds, the German-based team holds runner-up spot in the makes' contest, 166 points behind champions-elect Volkswagen. Now all eyes are on the fight for second between Hyundai, with a total of 177 points, Citroën Total Abu Dhabi (164) and M-Sport (148).

Second would be the best championship performance yet for Hyundai, after fourth in its debut season in 2013.

"We will push for as many points as possible with the objective to retain our second place in the manufacturers’ championship," said team principal Michel Nandan who, for the third time this season, can call upon a full strength driver line-up of Kevin Abbring, Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo and Hayden Paddon.

After a reshuffle in Australia, Sordo and Neuville are nominated to score points for the main squad, while Abbring and Paddon will drive for the Hyundai Mobis team.

"We are participating again with four cars, with our test driver Kevin Abbring joining Thierry, Dani and Hayden. He has experience here, coming third in the European Rally Championship (ERC) round here last year. Both Thierry and Dani have won rallies there before - they know the character of the roads so it should be easy for them to adapt to the new stages and it will be good to see them challenging,” added Nandan.
