Result: WRC 8 Livery of the Year
M-Sport Ford’s Fiesta World Rally Car was named as 2019’s best-looking car to win the WRC 8 Livery of the Year accolade in our prestigious end-of-season WRC awards.
It topped our wrc.com poll from a shortlist of eight of the most striking colour schemes from this year’s World Rally Cars and WRC 2 Pro entries as they appear on WRC 8, the official game of the FIA World Rally Championship.
M-Sport Ford team principal Rich Millener collected the award at Kennards Hire Rally Australia in Coffs Harbour and thanked the fans who voted for the Fiesta for a third time.
“M-Sport can happily say we have got some silverware this year. We might not have got that rally win but great to know we have still got a really strong fanbase. I’m also very happy to say this is the third year in a row that Ford has won the best livery competition,” he said.
The Fiesta headed the livery poll in 2016 with Lorenzo Bertelli’s sparkling mirror-finish car and also in the following season, when Ott Tänak’s colour scheme won the category. There was no livery award in 2018.
Millener paid tribute to graphic designer Phil Dixon. “He’s done an incredible job over the last few years designing some really nice looking cars that people obviously agree with as well.
“Hopefully we can continue again next year and make it four in a row, but also get some silverware from the rallies as well,” he added.
Other nominations were Citroën Total’s C3 World Rally Car, Hyundai Shell Mobis’ i20 World Rally Car, Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Yaris World Rally Car, FWRT’s Fiesta World Rally Car, GRX Team’s Yaris World Rally Car, Skoda Motorsport’s Fabia R5 and Citroën Total’s C3 R5.
