Rally Mexico: News in Brief

A look at some of the latest news from León ahead of Rally Guanajuato Mexico, the third round of the FIA World Rally Championship.

Ogier’s centenary: Volkswagen Motorsport has marked the 100th WRC start of Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia with celebration stickers on the rear of their Polo R. The French duo began their WRC careers in Mexico in 2008 with victory in the Junior WRC category and have won in Mexico for the last three years.

Guerra goes green: Benito Guerra's Ford Fiesta RS

Guerra lit-up: There will be no missing local hero Benito Guerra in the night-time stages as the Mexican’s Ford Fiesta RS WRC sports a luminous green livery. Guerra, who finished sixth two years ago, will certainly add to the colour and atmosphere of Thursday evening’s start ceremony in Guanajuato.

Recce visitors: Kris Meeke, Juho Hänninen and Kevin Abbring completed the two-day recce in the high-altitude mountains despite not tackling the rally. Meeke’s limited 2016 programme with the Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team does not include either Mexico or next month’s Rally Argentina (21 - 24 April) and the Ulsterman will next appear in Citroën’s DS 3 at Vodafone Rally de Portugal (19 - 22 May).

Østberg helmet: Mads Østberg (below) will wear a newly-liveried helmet for the first time this week. The M-Sport driver has chosen a predominantly black design, with the Norwegian flag decorating the sides and back.
