Petter claims third historic victory
Former world champion Petter Solberg and his wife and co-driver Pernilla celebrated Valentine’s Day with a third successive victory on Rally Sweden Historic, which finished in Hagfors this afternoon.
Petter’s latest rally success comes 10 years after a dominant win with the Subaru World Rally Team on the same roads.
Petter and Pernilla were the class of a quality field of historic motors in their Ford Escort Mk II – powering to a three-minute win after just 128 kilometres of competition, winning every stage along the way.
Petter said: “This has been fantastic. I did this event for the first time in 2013 and really enjoyed it, but it’s just got better and better every time. This year we had done some more work on the car and it was just amazing. I’m a rally driver again and it was fantastic. I loved it.
“Driving at home in Norway, in front of the big crowds was unbelievable for me yesterday and then it was the same for Pernilla when we were competing here in Sweden today. What a great event and, not a bad result either, eh…”
