DS 3 WRC evolution in Portugal
Revised aerodynamic package will be unveiled in May
The white, red and gold colour scheme will be replaced by a predominantly black and grey look, with red and white retained mainly on the bonnet. Touches of fluorescent green below the headlamps, around the bumper-mounted air outlets and on the rear spoiler add an additional splash of colour.
The three drivers will have their own customised roof – white for Kris Meeke, grey for Mads Østberg and red for Khalid Al-Qassimi.
To supplement start of the season upgrades, a second phase will bring a new front end to the DS 3. A redesigned bumper and wings are aimed at lowering drag and increasing downforce.
“If you take the new features unveiled in January and this second batch, this is the most significant upgrade since the DS 3 WRC was first homologated,” said Citroën Racing team principal Yves Matton.
“The aerodynamic upgrades introduced here should help us to keep improving. Confirmed during wind tunnel and pre-event testing, the gains achieved in terms of drag coefficient and downforce are significant,” he added.
Citroën is planning to introduce a third and final evolution before the end of the season but the timing has yet to be decided. That evolution will focus on the suspension and geometry.
