Neuville leads German safety campaign

Thierry Neuville is fronting a safety campaign ahead of ADAC Rallye Deutschland (21 - 24 August).

The Belgian driver, whose home town of St Vith is close to the new Waxweiler special stage in the Eifel hills, features in a video highlighting safety measures for round nine of the FIA World Rally Championship.

The Hyundai pilot explains safety guidelines that fans must follow in the stages. The video will be shown on big screens during the rally at various locations, including Trier’s service park and the city’s ceremonial start at the Porta Nigra gate.

ADAC set up a new spectator safety working group for the 2014 event, which includes key event officials, to develop new safety ideas.

“Safety comes first at this major racing event – for the participants, the assistants and volunteers and the spectators,” said a spokesman.

The two-minute video, in English, German and French, can be seen here.
