Ingrassia tastes Dakar Atmosphere

Double world champion co-driver Julien Ingrassia was an interested visitor at the ceremonial start of the Dakar Rally in Argentina at the weekend.

Ingrassia, co-driver to Sébastien Ogier, joined an estimated 650,000 people who packed the square outside the Casa Rosada presidential palace in Buenos Aires for the start of the 14-day, 9100km off-road event.

The Frenchman hinted that Dakar could feature in the future career plan for fellow countryman and Volkswagen Motorsport driver Ogier.

“I think it’s something he would like,” said Ingrassia. “We already talked about it while on liaisons in the rally car. For the moment we are focused on WRC, but who knows.”

Ingrassia missed Ogier’s pre-Christmas testing as he recovered from an operation, but is due to return to the seat of their Polo R for Volkswagen’s final pre-Rallye Monte-Carlo test next week.
