Hyundai i20 prize for Esports WRC champion

The winner of this year's inaugural eSports WRC championship will win a Hyundai i20 road car worth €20,000, tournament organisers have announced.

eSports WRC is the first international online World Rally Championship competition that brings together the best WRC 5 drivers across three gaming platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.

After a year of qualification rounds, run in parallel with the World Rally Championship, the best 18 drivers will win a place at the Wales Rally GB grand final that runs from October 27-30.

The winner will be crowned the first eSports WRC Champion and will take home the brand new car.

“We are very proud to partner with a company like Hyundai for our first edition of eSports WRC,” said Benoît Clerc, head of software at the game's publisher Bigben Interactive.

eSports WRC is a big challenge for us, since creating a virtual tournament which runs simultaneously to the calendar of an official FIA competition is something never seen in the gaming industry.

"As an innovative company, Hyundai will support us by providing a marvellous prize for the winner of the most exciting online racing competition," he added.

The 2016 eSports WRC Championship is organised by Bigben Interactive, Kylotonn Games and WRC Promoter, in conjunction with ESL, the world’s largest eSports company.
