Hyundai appoint new technical director

Hyundai Motorsport has appointed a new technical director to spearhead the development of the i20 World Rally Car.

Italian born Nino Frison will take up the new position immediately at the team’s WRC base in Germany. He will lead the engineering departments including chassis, engine and design. He will report to team principal Michel Nandan.

Frison has worked in international motorsport for more than 30 years, and has experience in single seaters, including Formula 1, as well as DTM and the WRC. He and Nandan worked together before at the Suzuki World Rally Team, where Frison was chief designer of the SX4 WRC.

Nandan has managed both roles at Hyundai since the team was established in December 2012. The team says that Frison’s appointment will allow Nandan to concentrate on overseeing the entire project.
