Hesto leads eSports WRC

German gamer Hesto heads the 2017 eSports WRC standings after an opening-round victory at a virtual Rallye Monte-Carlo.

From 19 to 22 January, gamers battled on WRC 6 for the lead of the Championship at the same time as the real WRC drivers battled snow and ice-covered roads in the French Alps.

Hesto, a championship finalist in 2016, showed impressive skills behind his PC to win the five-stage event by 1.1s from fellow 2016 gamers TX3_Nexl from France and German Speedbooster27 who completed the podium 6.3s further back.

The opening round also attracted a host of newcomers aiming to become the 2017 Champion. PC player Expert Jonno from the UK, finished fourth and Daveyskills, a British Xbox One player well-known in the racing games community, finished his first event in fifth.

The championship moves to the snowy tracks of a virtual Rally Sweden for round two, which will run in parallel with the real event from 9 - 12 February. The itinerary of this event will be unveiled on www.esportswrc.com on Thursday 9 February.
