Fighting talk: ADAC Rallye Deutschland
A round-up of pre-event comments from the WRC stars
The Italian, who drives a Ford Fiesta RS, broke the news on Twitter last night.
He wrote: "I'm afraid to say that since I've been sick during recce and I couldn't even complete some stages, I'm forced not to start #RallyGermany. I'm very sorry for all the fans who wanted to cheer us on the stages of #RallyeDeutschland. See you in 2016."
Bertelli's FWRT team manager Carlo Cassina told wrc.com that a fish dish was possibly to blame for his driver's upset stomach. "He tried to finish the recce but on Wednesday in the middle of the day it was not possible to continue and he missed the long Panzerplatte stage," he said.
Bertelli will return at the next round, Coates Hire Rally Australia [10 - 13 September].
