Autumn launch for WRC 6 video game
WRC 6, the official video game of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship, will be released in the autumn.
The 2016 edition will contain major improvements, including enhanced graphics and audio, exciting fresh features to be announced pre-launch and new and longer special stages from motorsport’s toughest championship for production-based cars.
It will be the only game to present authentic and current car liveries, with Volkswagen Motorsport, Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team, Hyundai Motorsport and M-Sport World Rally Team represented with their World Rally Cars in 2016 colours.
Rally China, which returns to WRC in September for the first time since 1999, will be added to the game, increasing the number of rallies to 14.
Gamers will be able to select from all the sport’s leading World Rally Car drivers, including triple world champion Sébastien Ogier, Thierry Neuville, Kris Meeke and Mads Østberg, along with a wide selection of WRC 2 and Junior WRC competitors.
WRC 6 will be published by Bigben Interactive and developed by French development studio Kylotonn Racing Games. Kylotonn collected feedback from WRC fans and the gaming community from the 2015 edition to raise the playing experience to a new level of realism.
“Roads were too wide in WRC 5? They will be narrower and bumpier in WRC 6. Stages were sometimes too short? We created new longer stages and reworked everything to make them more challenging,” said game director Alain Jarniou.
Following a successful inaugural season which will culminate in the final at Wales Rally GB (27 - 30 October), the eSports WRC online competition will continue in WRC 6 with improvements to access and format.
WRC Promoter managing director Oliver Ciesla said WRC 6 would provide an even more realistic challenge.
“If you enjoyed WRC 5, then you will love WRC 6. The developers have introduced significant improvements to make the playing experience even more exciting and true to life, while remaining faithful to its core aims of being an all-action game which takes in classic rallies and legendary special stages on all types of road surfaces,” he said.
WRC 6 will be available for PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC/Steam.
