Argentina route modified after FIA safety inspection

Organisers of the upcoming Rally Argentina [21-24 April] have submitted a new itinerary for Saturday's leg after an FIA inspection of the original route highlighted safety concerns.

Rally Argentina, the fourth round of the championship, will be based once again in the City of Villa Carlos Paz near Cordoba with stages run through the surrounding three valleys.

Saturday's original itinerary featured a trio of stages north of Villa Carlos Paz that haven’t been used since 2003. But that was changed following an inspection by FIA World Rally Championship safety delegate Michèle Mouton in late February.

Saturday's updated itinerary comprises the Villa Bustos - Tanti stage that was used in 2015, and two new tests, Los Gigantes - Cantera El Condor and Boca Del Arroyo - Bajo del Pungo, both of which include sections of stages from previous years.

Also new for this year will be Thursday's rally opening super special stage in Cordoba City.

The rest of the itinerary is on familiar ground. Friday includes the southern classics: Amboy-Santa Monica and Santa Rosa-San Agustín, while Sunday's grand finale will be high in the Traslasierra, with a passage over Mina Clavero - Giulio Cesare and the hanging bridges of El Condor – Copina, which is run for a second time as the rally closing live TV Power Stage.
