Argentina supports flood victims
Rally route unchanged as organisers embrace communities
Al Qassimi, who brings Abu Dhabi support to Citroën Racing, will join Kris Meeke and Mads Østberg in the French team’s DS 3 World Rally Cars for the fourth round of the championship.
It will be his first appearance in Argentina and he is one of 14 World Rally Cars in the 60-car entry, which also includes drivers competing in the FIA Codasur regional and Argentine national championships.
Some regional and national crews will tackle the full four-day event under new rules which allow cars approved by the host country’s motorsport authority to take part in WRC rounds outside Europe. Others will compete in a separate event over the first three days.
The 10 WRC 2 entries are headed by series leader Jari Ketomaa (Ford Fiesta R5) and other frontrunners include Nicolas Fuchs (Fiesta R5), Yurii Protasov and Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari (both Fiesta RRCs).
Rallye Monte-Carlo WRC 2 winner Stéphane Lefebvre is also entered in Citroën’s DS 3 R5 but will not score points as Argentina is not one of his nominated rounds.
Other entries include former world No 3 tennis player David Nalbandian in a Chevrolet Agile, ex-Munchi’s World Rally Team pilot Federico Villagra and 2012 PWRC runner-up Marcos Ligato.
