Abbring listed for four rounds

Kevin Abbring will tackle at least four rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship this season as Hyundai Motorsport continues to expand its programme.

The 26-year-old Dutchman was named as Hyundai’s test driver last month to develop its yet-to-be unveiled 2015 i20 World Rally Car, with a promise of selected WRC outings also.

Although his precise schedule has to be finalised, the German squad has confirmed Abbring for a minimum four rounds in its second team alongside Hayden Paddon, who will tackle all 12 remaining events.

The second-string Hyundai Mobis World Rally Team will run alongside lead drivers Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo in the Hyundai Shell World Rally Team.

“The second team will allow some of world rally’s rising stars the chance to showcase their talent on a competitive stage, something we as a WRC manufacturer take very seriously,” said team principal Michel Nandan.
