Østberg finished third at the weekend’s second round of the FIA World Rally Championship in his first loose surface outing back in a Ford Fiesta RS having switched from Citroën to rejoin M-Sport.
The 28-year-old has had plenty to acclimatise to this season, with Fløene replacing long-term partner Jonas Andersson in the right-hand seat and digesting pace notes in his own language for the first time in seven years.
“The relationship with Ola has been really good. We were actually saying that it feels as though we have been working together for years so that is a big positive,” said Østberg.
“We started off a bit slow but after that we managed to drive our way back up to the podium and we stayed there since Friday. We pushed when we needed to and controlled the pace when necessary and in the end it was actually quite a comfortable third place.”
