New Citroën leaves drivers grinning
Meeke, Breen and Lefebvre left with banana smiles
The Dutchman, who has conducted all the car’s testing this year, will drive the i20 as a course car at the Ypres Rally (23 - 25 June) as it moves closer to a first competitive appearance.
The i20 R5 is due to be homologated in the summer after which it will be eligible for customers to use in WRC 2 against other R5 cars such as Citroën’s DS 3, the Skoda Fabia and Ford Fiesta.
Hyundai’s customer team has prepared a new chassis for the asphalt event which will carry a fresh colour scheme. It will swap the camouflage livery used in testing for a competition- winning design created by a fan in New Zealand.
Abbring has tested the car on gravel and asphalt since it ran for the first time at the end of January, and further work is planned following the Ypres appearance ahead of homologation.
