Twin targets for Tempestini

Simone Tempestini will contest both the FIA Junior WRC and WRC 2 in 2015.

The Romanian will tackle all seven JWRC rounds in a Citroen DS3 Max R3T, and a minimum five rallies in a Subaru Impreza in WRC 2 to gain experience of other events.

Twenty-year-old Tempestini was the youngest JWRC contender this year. He finished eighth and believes he can mount a title challenge in 2015.

“The calendar is a little bit different from last year and we will have to choose six of the seven rallies that will count for the title,” he said. “After this year’s goal, to learn and acquire precious experience, for next year I would like to fight for the title.

“There are four rallies on gravel, two on asphalt and a mixed one. It will be a challenging season but I’m certain that, alongside Matteo (co-driver Chiarcossi) we will be fighting for the title,” said the Napoca Rally Academy driver.

Tempestini ended his 2014 campaign in Britain

Tempestini will warm-up for the JWRC-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo (22 - 25 January) at Austria’s Jännerrallye (4 - 6 January).

“We have to acquire the best shape. Most of our competitors know Monte-Carlo and if we want to fight for the title we need the best start next season,” he said.

Tempestini will compete in Sweden, Mexico, Argentina, Italy and Germany in the Impreza.

“We are not sure now if we will race in Australia. My goal for this year is to learn and acquire experience in the rallies that aren’t included in Junior WRC. Our future is the WRC and we wish to be prepared to compete at the highest level,” he added.
