The award was presented in London on 17 April and recognises the success of the Superlative Films-produced series, created in partnership with SafetyCulture and developed with the full support of WRC Promoter.
Produced as part of WRC Promoter’s wider strategy to broaden the championship’s storytelling and reach new audiences, More than Machine offers an intimate look inside Rally1 competition, both on and away from the stages. Across the 2025 season, Superlative was granted exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the championship’s leading crews, combining this with official WRC footage to deliver a fresh and immersive perspective on the sport.
The judging panel praised the series for its compelling and immersive approach, stating: “The show makes excellent use of archive material and contributions from drivers and their families. Production values are outstanding and the editing stands out, weaving personal narratives and competitive storylines in a way that draws the viewer in. Even for viewers unfamiliar with the WRC, it draws you into the stories, making it consistently accessible and enjoyable. The series is further strengthened by exceptional access that gets to the heart of the sport.”
The latest honour marks another milestone for the series, which has become a key part of WRC Promoter’s content offering beyond live coverage on Rally.TV. Its first season also received industry recognition, including Best Original Content at the SportsPro Media Awards.
WRC Promoter Senior Director, Media Rights and OTT, Philipp Maenner, said: “Moving from following one team in the first season to the entire WRC field in season two was overwhelmingly positively received by our fan base, reflected in the high retention rate of each episode.
“Receiving awards like this is further affirmation of the excellent work done by SafetyCulture and Superlative in making the sometimes complex peculiarities of our sport resonate with a much wider audience.”
Luke Anear, Founder and Executive Chair of SafetyCulture, said: “We conceived More Than Machine because we work with the best teams in the world every day, and the WRC is exactly that.
“It’s a sport that mirrors our global customer base, and being part of showcasing those stories has been a privilege. What Superlative and the whole team produced is something I’m genuinely proud of, and this award is a reflection of what happens when you commit to telling real human stories without compromise.”
Gary Osborne, Executive Producer and Founder of Superlative, said: “We are incredibly honoured to receive this recognition. This award is a testament to the dedication of our entire team and the trust placed in us by the rally teams on the ground; drivers, co-drivers and their families, and everyone involved in the sport.
“Our mission was always to tell authentic, emotional stories of humans at the very limit of motorsport that could connect with both rally fans and new audiences alike.”
All episodes from the first two seasons are available on demand on the WRC’s official YouTube channel.
