Hankook's WRC tyres impress Fourmaux ahead of 2025 season
Hyundai driver Adrien Fourmaux is pleased with his initial contact with Hankook, the FIA World Rally Championship’s exclusive new tyre supplier for the next three years.
Hankook's full range of Rallye Monte-Carlo tyres are being tested through this month as the teams gear-up for the traditional season-opener in the French Alps. Fourmaux drove the new covers on his winning i20 N Rally1 debut at Rallye National Hivernal du Dévoluy near Gap last month.
Talking about the new tyres, the Frenchman said: “I was happy with the tyres. The slick is good. The winter needed a little bit of development, but it's really good that Hankook is very open to talk about everything.
“It was difficult to compare the tyre with what we'd been using in Japan for the last round of the championship. In Japan, we had more corners and the grip was different, for the rally [National Hivernal du Dévoluy] it was a Monte test, so the conditions were very different with more snow and ice.
“Like I said, on the whole it was positive.”
This month's Rallye Monte-Carlo is the most complicated round of the WRC for tyres, with four choices of tyre available: two compounds of slick as well as a studded and non-studded winter tyre.
