The programme was led by Susanna Coletta, FIA Women in Motorsport Project Coordinator, with Katharina Wolf, FIA Sport Sustainability Coordinator, delivering a dedicated session on the FIA’s sustainability strategy and ongoing initiatives.
Representing WRC Promoter, Bernhard Hafenscher outlined how the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) approaches sustainability in practice, offering insight into how those principles are applied behind the scenes of a global series.
Students then took part in a team challenge, working through a brief to identify a current sustainability challenge, propose solutions, outline implementation plans and assess potential impact before pitching their ideas back to the group. Concepts included an integrated fan app across FIA championships designed to improve accessibility and inclusivity for audiences.
The day concluded with an athlete perspective through a Q&A session with Ferrari FIA World Endurance Championship driver Francesco Castellacci, who shared insights into performance, adaptability and life at the highest level of competition.
Beyond CareerShift, additional educational activities took place across the rally weekend, including a visit from children from a local school. Hafenscher again led the session, using simple and tangible examples to explain sustainability in action - from fossil-free fuel and CO₂ measurement and balancing to the recycling of end-of-life tyres.
The visit concluded on a lighter note, with the children meeting Vrooom, the Automobile Club de Monaco’s cheetah mascot, adding a fun dimension to a learning-focused experience.
