WRC to offer bonus Points for biggest jump

WRC stars will benefit from more points-scoring opportunities than ever before from next month’s Vodafone Rally de Portugal (11 - 14 May) onwards, with drivers now able to collect up to five additional bonus points for the biggest jump in each rally.

Today’s (1 April) announcement follows months of backroom discussions and means that drivers will now be able to earn up to five more points by flying the furthest on a pre-designated jump at each remaining gravel rally on the 2023 calendar.

The designated jump for Vodafone Rally de Portugal will be the iconic Pedra Sentada jump located towards the end of the Fafe test, which also forms the Wolf Power Stage. Should the stage occur twice in a rally, as it does in Portugal, drivers will count the biggest of their two jumps.

With this new rule in place, the WRC’s iconic jumps are expected to draw in even more fans with the additional allure of drivers attempting to jump further than ever before in search of valuable points, guaranteeing spectacular action.

Although not available for comment, it is understood that the new points scoring rule received unanimous backing from the drivers.
