Joona - also a frontrunner in the FIA Junior WRC series - currently holds second overall in the championship standings and trails fellow Finn Pajari by 26 points.
With Pajari stepping up to a WRC2-specification Škoda Fabia this week, Joona could close that deficit to a single point should he bring home a victory. The 25-year-old is partnered by co-driver Tuukka Shemeikka and tops the all-Ford Fiesta Rally3 entry.
Jan Černý is Joona’s nearest championship challenger. The Czech driver returns to action for the first time since his Rally Italia Sardegna win and has finished on the podium at every rally he has started this season.
The remainder of the field consists of young Finnish drivers making their WRC3 debuts. Teenage hotshot Toni Herranen is a regular in the ERC, while Tommi Heino and Henri Timonen have only competed in regional events until now.
