Despite never having driven the rear-wheel drive classic machine, Neuville looked immediately at home in the car which sported a LifeLive livery. Run in and around the Spa circuit the event was hit by wintry weather with snow lying on some stages.
Winner of last month’s WRC finale, FORUM8 Rally Japan, Neuville mastered both the car and the conditions to win his class by more than five minutes.
“This rally was for fun,” said Neville, “and we definitely had fun. There were a lot of smiles when we were driving and a big thanks to LifeLive for making this happen.”
At the head of the field, former Citroën Racing factory driver and Ypres Rally Belgium class winner Stéphane Lefebvre sealed the Belgian Rally Championship title with victory on the final round.
“This has been an incredible season,” said Lefebvre. “We have achieved some great things through this year and to end it this way is great. The car has run like clockwork.”
FORUM8 Rally Japan WRC2 winner Grégoire Munster was second at home, bringing his Hyundai i20 Rally2 to the finish just 20 seconds behind Lefebvre.
