Izamusing, Kazunakota, Nexl and Zeniou secured their places in next month’s World Final following the conclusion of a dramatic Rally Finland on Monday (01 August).
Following an official review at the completion of the penultimate round, a number of drivers were deemed to have used illegal cuts, leading to their disqualification from Finland. This included the already-confirmed regular season MVP Sami-Joe and three-time world champion Nexl.
Katana was the main benefactor, vaulting up the leaderboard to claim victory and come within a whisker of also securing a ticket to September’s televised final in Athens. He now only needs eight points from the final round to absolutely secure a spot but could also still qualify without scoring at all should results go in his favour.
Three tickets are up for grabs on the final round from 12-15 August, with action taking place on the gravel roads of Greece.
