WATCH: Tänak forced out of Rally de Portugal

Vodafone Rally de Portugal leader Ott Tänak has been forced to stop on late on Saturday, breaking his rear right suspension on the day's penultimate stage.

The Hyundai Motorsport driver had been dominating the rally, carrying a 22.4 second lead over Elfyn Evans into the second loop of the 37.92km Amarante test. However, midway through the stage it became apparent that Tänak had sustained damage to his rear right suspension.

The Estonian attempted to finish the stage but would ultimately be forced to pull over at the 34.1km mark, with the right rear wheel dragging behind his i20 World Rally Car.

It remains unclear as to whether Tänak and co-driver Martin Järveoja will restart on Sunday morning.
