Three more drivers confirm Grand Final berths

Following the penultimate round of the eSports WRC Championship presented by Toyota Gazoo Racing, a further three drivers have confirmed their berths in the Grand Final.

Action for the second-to-last-round of the Regular Season turned to the forests of Finland for two stages of flat-out gravel action. After suffering his first defeat of the season in the previous round, Sami-Joe was back to his winning ways over the weekend (23-26 July) with victory of more than two seconds over Nexl, who was joined on the podium by team-mate Izamusing.

The third-placed finish was enough to confirm Izamusing’s place in the Grand Final along with Kriim and Noel, who finished     fourth and fifth respectively in Finland. The trio join the already-qualified Sami-Joe and Nexl.

With drivers able to drop their worst result from 2021, that leaves nine drivers within a theoretical chance of securing one of the three remaining tickets for the Grand Final. They will have one final opportunity to do just that from 06-09 August when Wales provides the backdrop for the thirteenth and final round of the regular season.

Meanwhile, in the teams’ championship, Race Clutch have all-but confirmed another championship title. For second-placed Seventh Gear e-Sport Club to have any chance of overhauling Race Clutch, they would need a perfect podium finish in Wales and hope that their rivals do not score more than a point.

The fight for third spot on the teams’ championship podium remains tight, with just 48 points separating third-placed eRally Drivers and fifth-placed Williams eSports.
