About the Rally

A relative newcomer to the WRC, Rally Chile Bio Bío was first held in 2018 when it ran as a candidate event as part of a bid to join the WRC calendar.
Its success meant Chile was added to the WRC calendar for 2019 - at the time becoming the 32nd country to host a WRC round since the championship's inception in 1973. Ott Tänak, driving a Toyota Yaris World Rally Car, claimed victory by 23.1 seconds over Sébastien Ogier.
Thrill and difficulty are guaranteed with the route including technical, twisty and cambered forest tracks in the Biobío region. Adding to the complexity is the weather, with a high chance of downpours during the southern hemisphere's springtime.
