The roads are smooth and well-built but demand total precision. Visibility is often limited by fog and tree cover, and pace notes need to be dialled in perfectly – one missed call can send a car off into the undergrowth in a heartbeat.

Back for its fourth WRC edition in 2025, Chile has quickly built a reputation as a driver’s rally – rewarding those who can build confidence and carry speed through blind corners and flowing cambers.

About the Rally

Rally Chile Bio Bío brings rhythm, flow and serious commitment to the WRC calendar. Based out of the city of Concepción on Chile’s Pacific coast, the event delivers fast and technical gravel stages that twist through dense forest plantations and rugged hillsides in the Bío Bío region.
The roads are smooth and well-built but demand total precision. Visibility is often limited by fog and tree cover, and pace notes need to be dialled in perfectly – one missed call can send a car off into the undergrowth in a heartbeat.

03

The Challenge

Chile’s gravel stages have a unique character – fast, flowing, and sometimes incredibly narrow.
The surface is compact but can become loose off-line, and weather plays a big role. Rain is always a threat, and mist or coastal fog often lingers in the mornings. Tree-lined roads can be disorienting, especially for those with less experience in the region.
It’s a rally where rhythm is everything – and once you find it, it’s magic. Lose it, and you’re fighting the car for the rest of the day.
04

Did you know?

  • Chile joined the WRC calendar in 2019 and returned in 2023 and 2024 after a COVID-enforced absence.
  • Ott Tänak won the inaugural edition with Hyundai in 2019, before repeating his success in 2023 with M-Sport Ford.
  • The rally’s base, Concepción, is Chile’s second-largest city and sits just inland from the Pacific coast.
  • The Bío Bío region is known for its forestry industry – and many of the rally’s roads run through privately owned timber land.
  • The stages have drawn comparisons to Rally Finland and Wales, with fast lines and natural rhythm through the trees.
