About Oliver Solberg

The son of 2003 WRC champion Petter Solberg and former driver Pernilla Walfridsson, Oliver was destined for the stages. His rise was meteoric: winning the Latvian championship at 17, a shock ERC win in Liepāja on his debut, and a move to the WRC's top flight with Hyundai by the age of 19.

While a difficult 2022 season led to a parting of ways with Hyundai, Solberg used the setback to reset. Returning to the second tier, he proved he was the fastest man in a Rally2 car, though a string of bad luck in 2024 saw him narrowly miss the title.

The 2025 season was the defining year of Solberg’s career. Switching to a Printsport-run Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, he was near-untouchable. He claimed a third consecutive WRC2 victory at Rally Sweden before adding wins in Portugal, Greece, and Paraguay. He finally exorcised the demons of the previous year by clinching the WRC2 Championship with a dominant victory at Rally Chile.

However, the headline of his season - and arguably the WRC year - came in July. Handed a one-off outing in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 at Delfi Rally Estonia, Solberg produced a performance for the ages. Leading almost from the start, he fended off world champions Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville to secure his maiden outright WRC victory. It was a landmark result that marked Toyota’s 100th WRC win and signaled Solberg’s inevitable return to the sport’s top table full-time.
