Armstrong’s journey is one of the most unique in the service park. After showing immense early promise, a lack of funding famously saw him turn to sim racing, where he became the 2018 WRC Esports World Champion.
That virtual success helped reignite his real-world career, leading to back-to-back runner-up finishes in the Junior WRC in 2021 and 2022, followed by the ERC3 title in 2023. Beyond his driving, Armstrong’s technical expertise is widely respected; he spent several years as a game designer for the EA Sports WRC title, helping to refine the very physics he now masters on the stages.
The 2025 season was the breakthrough that finally earned him a place at rallying’s top table. Competing in the European Rally Championship (ERC) with an M-Sport-backed Ford Fiesta Rally2, Armstrong emerged as the form man of the second half of the year.
He secured an emotional maiden overall victory at Rali Ceredigion in Wales before repeating the feat with a dominant performance at the season finale in Croatia. His late-season charge saw him finish as the 2025 ERC runner-up and earned him the "Driver of the Year" accolade from the championship’s experts.
Promoted to a Ford Puma Rally1 for 2026, Armstrong enters the new season as a proven winner, ready to showcase his clinical pace on the world stage.
