Since joining Sordo mid-way through 2021, Carrera has become a vital part of the Hyundai factory set-up. His journey to the top was a result of years of hard work in the Spanish national scene and support categories. His partnership with Sordo yielded immediate results, with the pair claiming nine WRC podiums together in just three years. Their synergy was on full display in 2025 when they stepped away from the WRC main stage to dominate the Portuguese Rally Championship.
Returning to the Rally1 class for 2026, Carrera’s experience with the high-speed machinery is a major asset for Hyundai. As the crew prepares for a shared programme in the third i20 N Rally1, his role in ensuring maximum points scoring for the team remains central to their manufacturers’ title ambitions.
