Aged just 22 at the start of the season, Erik Cais is one of the youngest drivers in the WRC’s premier support category.
The Czech youngster started his first rally aged just 18 and learned his trade with plentiful outings at local rallies, first in an Opel Adam Cup Car then a Peugeot 208 R2.
In 2019 he progressed to the FIA European Rally Championship and steered a Ford Fiesta R2T19 to success in the ERC3 category, with a class win at Rally Hungary being the highlight of the year.
The following year he returned to the championship, this time with a Fiesta Rally2. With an emphasis on gaining experience in four-wheel-drive machinery, he finished every rally and also claimed overall wins on two national events in Poland and Italy.
In 2021, Cais made his WRC debut in Spain with a Ford Fiesta Rally2. It was a promising start and he finished third, beating a number of more experienced crews in the process.
For 2022, he is tackling more WRC2 rounds with the Fiesta. Petr Těšínský will join him in the car.
