Eerik Pietarinen

Pietarinen’s career got off to an inauspicious start when he rolled his BMW 325i on his debut in 2012. He persevered, gaining experience in his home country and making his WRC debut in Finland in 2015.

His first breakthrough came in 2017 when he dominated the SM2 class in the Finnish Championship in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. He won the title and ended the season on a high when he won the final round of the series outright on his debut in a R5 car.

The 2018 season proved to be even better. He won the national title outright in a Škoda Fabia and provided a major shock at Neste Rally Finland when he won WRC2 on his first appearance in the category.

Crashes at two of the three WRC rallies he contested in 2019 dented his WRC2 hopes, but the Finn stuck with the Škoda for two more outings in 2020. His best result was fourth in WRC3 Rally Sweden.

Pietarinen switched to a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 the following year and finished fourth in WRC3 at Arctic Rally Finland Powered by CapitalBox whilst also contesting some national events.

He drives the Polo in the WRC2 category for 2022.
