Andreas Mikkelsen celebrated the unlikeliest of WRC2 victories on Sunday afternoon at Rally Italia Sardegna when rally leader Adrien Fourmaux slid off the road 1.8km into the weekend’s final stage, denying the Frenchman a maiden WRC2 victory.

Sébastien Ogier's hopes of a fifth Rally Italia Sardegna victory turned sour in SS14 when the Toyota GR Yaris driver went off the road. The Frenchman understeered on a left-hand bend, sliding down an embankment on the outside of the corner. Both he and co-driver Vincent Landais were unharmed in the excursion.
Dani Sordo's hopes of achieving a third Rally Italia Sardegna victory were dashed on Friday morning when the Spaniard overshot a left-hander, rolling his Hyundai down an embankment in Monte Lerno. Despite continuing, Sordo and co-driver Cándido Carrera plummeted down the leaderboard after dropping more than three minutes.
